For this assgnment, you will be expanding your knowledge about a particular area of interest for your final project. Please continue to work with the topic you identified last week unless your received guidance from your instructor to do otherwise. If you are interested in changing your topic, please contact your instructor for guidance.

First, you must locate a popular source that discusses your chosen topic. A popular source is one that reflects an opinion of the author or organization and is not peer-reviewed. These are not usually academic in nature, but you can use an academic source if you choose for this item. Most often, these popular sources are opinion pieces in newspapers or magazines.

In one paragraph, please offer:

A short description of the online source
A reason why you think it is valuable or controversial
A statement about why you think it is credible or perhaps not credible (always look for author credentials and any bias in their argument)
A link to the source
And a citation in  APA

Second, you must locate a peer-reviewed source that discusses your chosen topic. A peer-reviewed source is one that goes through a process of review by a board consisting of professionals in a particular industry. For example, in psychology, that board would consist of people with a Master’s Degree or higher (often a Ph.D.) in psychology, counseling, or a related field.

Here is how to locate a peer-reviewed article through the EGCC Library:

Watch the EGCC Library Gateway Search video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVo1_KmulvQLinks to an external site.

Go to https://egcc.edu/library/Links to an external site.
Enter your keywords in the box that comes up, but be sure to select “Full-Text” and “Peer-Reviewed” before you click “search” (this will limit your results to those that are available in full-text form and are strictly scholarly)
You may not need to log in if you are already logged into EGCC for class, but use the following format for any credentials you need to enter:

Once you locate your article, read through it and take note of key information. Then, in one paragraph, please offer:

A short description of the article
A reason why you think it is valuable for understanding your topic better
Whether or not this article describes a research study with participants or if it describes other researchers’ work. If it is an actual study with participants, note whether they use quantitative data (numbers and statistics), qualitative data (describing qualities and including interviews or case studies), or mixed methods (a combination of quantitative and qualitative data). For a brief explanation of these definitions, you can check this video out: Qualitative v. Quantitative ResearchLinks to an external site.
Include a citation in either APA or MLA format for your peer-reviewed article
