Diagnosis Questions:

1. According to the class material, what is primary provisional diagnosis would you recommend for
the patient?

     a. What is the basis for the diagnosis?

(Hint: What parts of the patients reports and experiences suggest the presence
of a mental disorder? Be sure to pay attention to the diagnostic criteria as well
        as the clinical descriptions?)
2. Were there any other diagnoses that your team considered?
     a. Explain your process of going through the other diagnoses you considered.
(Hint: Really make an attempt to walk me through your reasoning process here.

As you read, certain ideas probably popped out to you about what the diagnosis
might be, but were eventually discarded. Explain which diagnoses you
considered and why they matched or why they did not.)
      b. Does he meet any criteria for secondary diagnosis?
(Hint: If so, describe the basis for the diagnosis in as much detail as you did for
          the primary, provisional diagnosis.)
3. What additional information would you want about or from the patient?
(Hint: Think about what more information you would need to rule out other
diagnoses or rule in other diagnoses specifically. Or maybe there is some
additional information you would want to make you more certain about your
primary diagnosis. Or maybe there is something in the intake information that
makes you worried about some other aspect of their behavior?)

Recommendation Questions:

1. Medical
     a. Imagine you are a medical doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant.
     b. Are there any medical assessments you would recommend to rule out medical causes of
        the reported problem?
     c. Are there any concerns about the development of medical problems secondary to a
        mental health issue?
     d. Why or why not?
     e. If you decide some type of assessment, what are the benefits and drawbacks?
