Directions/Tips
Interview your classmate, and write down some entertaining highlights from his/her life.  Make sure you are tailoring your introductory speech to the audience, not to the person you are introducing.  As the speaker, you need to convince the audience that he/she is a good person while making them seem as interesting as possible.  (Remember, the goal of every speech is to improve the lives of the audience.  Why should they listen to you?)

Do not forget to decide on a reason as to why your classmate is being honored.

Organize your information into some kind of logical pattern that will make it easy for the audience to follow.  Do it chronologically or otherwise.  The pattern of the speech needs to be very clear.  This is accomplished by using “signposts” or linking devices that cue the audience in to what is coming next.  For example:  “Saul originally majored in nuclear physics at Stanford, but you may wonder why he currently is not a physicist.  Saul later decided radio was what he really wanted to do with his life.  That’s why he’s poor and unemployed today!”
