What conceptual definition is given for satisfaction with love life?

2. What Cronbach’s alpha is reported for The Satisfaction With Love Life Scale? What does the reported alpha tell us about the internal reliability of the scale?

3. In this paper, test-retest reliability of the Satisfaction with Love Life Scale was not assessed. Recall that test-retest reliability is expected to be highest and is most important when a scale measures a construct that is NOT expected to change much over time. Do you think satisfaction with love live might change considerably over time? Explain why you think it either would or would not change much over time. Based on your thinking, say whether or not test-retest reliability should be examined for the Satisfaction With Love Life Scale.

4. Look at the actual items on the Satisfaction With Love Life Scale (given in Table 1 on p. 7) and evaluate their face validity. To provide evidence that the items have good face validity use example items to show how the items are directly addressing what is being described in the conceptual definition of satisfaction with love life. If you think the items do not have face validity, then show this by using example items to show that they are not measuring what is being described in the conceptual definition.

5. Aside from the Love Life Satisfaction Scale, satisfaction with one’s love life could be measured by simply asking people in a relationship how satisfied they are with the relationship. When the researcher behind the Love Life Satisfaction scale did this they found a strong correlation between self-labeled love satisfaction and score on the Satisfaction with Love Life Scale (r=.77, see Table 2). What part of construct validity does this help to establish?

6. The researcher categorized people in the study based on whether or not they were currently in love. It was found that those currently in love scored higher on the Satisfaction With Love Scale than those not currently in love. What part of construct validity does this help to establish?

7. Please provide one way of determining the criterion validity of their scale should

Brief resilience scale.pdf

1. What conceptual definition is provided for the kind of resilience that that authors are trying to measure with the brief resilience scale?

2. The researchers gave the Brief Resilience Scale to four different samples. They assessed internal reliability in each sample by calculating Cronbach’s alpha. What was the range of the Cronbach’s alphas across the 4 samples and what do these alphas tell us about whether or not the scale has an acceptable level on internal reliability?

3. The researchers assessed test-retest reliability of the Brief Resilience Scale for two of the samples.  How much time passed between the two testing sessions for these samples?

4. Look at the actual items on the Brief Resilience Scale (given in Table 1 on p. 196) and evaluate the face validity of these questions. To provide evidence that the items have good face validity use example items to show how the items are directly addressing what is being described in the conceptual definition. If you think the items do not have face validity, then show this by using example items to show that they are not measuring what is being described in the conceptual definition.

5. The researchers assess convergent validity by calculating how strongly the Brief Resilience Scale correlates with a number of other constructs. Look at the correlations between the Brief Resilience Scale and these other constructs in Table 3 on p. 198. Pick one of these other constructs and explain why its correlation with the Brief Resilience scale provides good evidence of convergent validity for the scale.

6. the research described in the article did look at scores on the Brief Resilience scale across different groups of people but did not really directly examine or comment on the criterion validity of the scale. Propose a way to assess the criterion validity of the Brief Resilience Scale. Be sure to describe what results would support the Brief Resilience Scale having good criterion validity.

7. propose a second way of examining criterion validity. Be sure to describe a study you could do to assess criterion validity and to describe the pattern of results that would provide evidence of criterion validity.
