Include two values and/or guiding principles to support your explanation. BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENTMagda is an elderly women who lives on her on. She was able to care for herself until she broke her hip. Magda was able to drive and complete daily activities on her own. She was recently diagnosed with early on-set Dementia. Although she is able to make decisions on her own, she needs someone to stay with her and help throughout the day. Magda has a son and daughter in law who are her support system. They hired helped for a few days a week, but could not afford more. To help with the care of Magda, her son and daughter-in -law allowed a trusted family member to stay with her to help take some of the burden. His drug habit had became a problem again, and he started to steal money from Magda. The solution was to remove valuables from the home, and to check on Magda and Alec more often. Magda does not have anxiety or any mental health issues, she is starting to feel like a burden on her family due to her increase in help. While the context of each kind of caregiving may be different, care-giving creates a degree of subjective burden (Brandell, 2020). She likes to socialize at church and family dinners. Magda physical environment is not safe to do her current family living with her stealing her items and battling a drug problem. Describe ways you would have supported Magda’s self-determination through the assessment and treatment-planning process. There are different things that would support Magda’s self determination. One way I would try and boost her self-determination would be to include her in the decision making process. Asking Magda her needs and wants is a great way to start. Although all her needs and wants may not be able to be met, it is nice for her to see they are still being considered. I believe that Magda having a say on her caregiver getting replaced and Alec coming to stay with her would allow her to open up to the idea more. I would suggest services to help Magda with the idea of her being a burden to her family as well. This would allow Magda to have a  professional to talk to, and to receive the help she needs. Being the Advocate for my client, I would suggest housing arrangements be made due to the instability of Alec living with her. I would suggest independent living facilities, or a more trusted family member staying with Magda.  I would asked Magda how she would feel about moving to another place where she would have assistance on call. I would ask the family about financial circumstances to see if she could qualify for housing arrangements. I would question her nurses about her safety throughout the day, and question her about future housing as well. I would question her doctor on her prognosis of her Dementia, and the stages she was at. Also, I would ask the doctor what symptoms comes with the current stage and how fast does he see it progressing.  Reference Brandell, J. R. (Ed.).
